Nashville, Tenn-- Baptist Sports Medicine welcomes seasoned neuropsychologist, Gary Solomon, Ph.D., to the Baptist Sports Medicine team, officials announced today.

 

“With his arrival, Dr. Solomon brings 25 years of expertise in neuro and sports psychology and we are honored to have him join the Baptist Sports Medicine team,” said Trent Nessler, Managing Director of Saint Thomas Health Services’ Outpatient Rehabilitation. “As the first neuropsychologist in our network of physicians, we are now able to offer a much needed specialty to our athletes.”  

 

Dr. Solomon has an extensive background applying the field of neuropsychology to team sports. He has served as the team neuropsychologist for the Nashville Predators  ince 1998 and the consulting neuropsychologist for the Tennessee Titans since 1999.

 

In addition to sports neuropsychology, Dr. Solomon’s work spans various positions in psychology and neuropsychology as an educator, consultant, researcher and clinical practitioner. He currently serves as clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Vanderbilt University and is the Consulting Neuropsychologist for Ascend Dual Diagnosis Management.

Dr. Solomon received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University.
He has delivered numerous presentations on traumatic brain injuries, concussions and mental preparation relating to sports activities. Board certified in clinical neuropsychology, he has contributed to numerous publications in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, addiction, depression, head injury, and clinical methodologies.  He is a member of the editorial board of the Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology.  He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the American College of Professional Neuropsychology and resides in Nashville with his family.

 

As a part of the Baptist Sports Medicine team, Dr. Solomon will be providing sports psychology, concussion management and neuropsychological testing.  As a part of the comprehensive concussion management program, Dr. Solomon will be providing ImPACT Testing and aiding in management of the concussed patient along with Dr. Jason Hubbard and the Baptist Sports Medicine Concussion Rehabilitation Team.
