(Nashville, Tenn.) – Baptist Sports Medicine, in conjunction with Saint Thomas Health Services, will host their first annual sports medicine conference Saturday, June 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at The Gladys Stringfield Owen Education Center at Baptist Hospital.
Designed for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists and coaches, the Sports Medicine Care Continuum: Keeping Athletes Care at Heart conference will focus on the acute care of injured athletes on and off the field. Speakers will address issues of sideline evaluation and screening techniques used to determine the best plan of care including return to play decisions, preventing future injury and managing pain and dysfunction.
The conference will also cover several topics including the most common injuries to the knee, shoulder, head and ankle as well as on-field management of emergency situations, such as basic and advanced spine boarding techniques.
Instructing the conference are Dr. Jason Hubbard, neurosurgeon; Dr. David Moore, orthopedic surgeon; Dr. Damon Petty, orthopedic surgeon; Greg Rose, president of Kentucky Athletic Trainers Society; Dr. James Yu, orthopedic surgeon; Mark Buck, Managing Director of Saint Thomas Emergency Medical Services; Trent Nessler, Managing Director of Baptist Sports Medicine; and Alex Pinto, Athletic Medicine Director of Baptist Sports Medicine.
